Please perform a search of a specific neurodegenerative disease in human (Alzheimers disease (AD), Parkinsons disease (PD), Prion disease, Motor neurone diseases (MND), Huntingtons disease (HD), Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA), Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)) at OMIM, then find a gene of your interest. Please record the name and chromosome location of the gene you select, as well as Phenotype MIM number of your search.
Conduct a search of your chosen gene at NCBI database, and find the accession number of the genomic DNA, mRNA and protein related to the gene.
By using uniprot, please find the subcellular location, expression and the number of isoforms for the protein coded by that gene.

Please conduct a BLASTN search of your chosen gene, and restrict database to humans, can you find any paralogs of the gene? If yes, how many?
Please conduct a BLASTN search of your chosen gene, and restrict database to Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Drosophila melanogaster or Rattus norvegicus. Can you find orthologs in these species? If yes, which one of the species have the highest similarity to humans?
Please conduct a BLASTP search of your chosen protein, and restrict database to humans, can you find any paralogs of the protein? If yes, how many?
