In the first dicussion board I said that English literature should be studied because it teaches you about history and it can help you improve your vocabulary and writing skills. Of course, I haven’t change my mind. I have learned more about the history of England and different periods. In addition, I have learned new vocabulary due to reading different from different periods. Some of the words I have learned are: smock, dread, tarrying, disclosed, pebbled, transfix and many more. After taking this course you will also learned about different cultures of different periods of time which is very interesting. I really like that some names of stories were written in other languages, for example, Le Morte D’arthur (French) and Dulce et decorum est Pro Patria Mori (Latin).
One of the reasons I like to read is because reading can increase your intelligence and can also help prevent mental decline. All of these benefits I’ve mentioned will definitely help me throughout my whole life. I believe that learning English literature (or any kind of literature) will be beneficial in any carrier.

In the first week of the class my perception on learning literature was helping me learn to explore other cultures and beliefs. I still believe in this concept, however after taking this class there are two more that I believe to be more fitting than what i thought before. The two concepts I feel most relateable to now are to appreciate the contributions literature has made to history and to expand our vocabularies. The works I have studied relating to those reasons are when reading some of the stories we had to read along with learning so many new things that occured. Espicially with how the world was back in the day, it’s very interesting to learn about those times and what people dealt with. I definitely love reading them and comparing these stories or events to life right now. As for expanding our vocabularies I have learned so many new words in these stories that I have never even heard of. My vocabulary is pretty small sometimes I do have to look up words when talking to others and I love many new ones I learned.
