One thing I found interesting was the way that social Darwinism stemmed from the theory of evolution. I think that something that was initially about plants and animals was turned around and to say that it’s poor people’s own fault for being poor. Darwin (theory of evolution) discussed natural selection which is about how plants and animals may may or may not survive in certain environments depending on their characteristics. While social Darwinism discussed survival of the fittest and if you weren’t born with the characteristics to make yourself wealthy then you weren’t destined to be wealthy
