HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN 1

The writing style of Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban is the same traditional literary technique as it was in the first and second parts of the novel. The third part of the novel comprises of intense twists, plots, characterization, complex language, and storyline. The use of methodological and historical Allusions has caused the characters and the settings to be multi-layered. To communicate the theme of despair, forgiveness, love, and illumination Rawling took the help of images and recognizable symbols. She amazingly foreshowed the confrontations such as the arguments and quarrels that happened between the scrubber and crook shanks early in the novel. Her mind-blowing sense of humor keeps a balance between tragic and bleak pictures. Rowling likes to address the universal human concerns which include humiliation of public and social acceptance etc. She uses these issues to communicate with her readers and audience.

The wise and all-knowing narrator tells the part of Harry Potter. The novels basically remind of an oral folk tale that praises its hero for the deeds of sacrifice and also for the surviving major tragic situations and circumstances. The concept of a story that features villains and the heroes and the storyline somehow matches the stories; myths told by the people who belong to the diverse cultures. Stories like these help to satisfy readers’ hunger for adventure and intriguing stories. By the invention of the specialized language for the characters, the bureaucratic or official titles and the magical devices makes the boring aspects of life combined with the fantastical possibilities. These things help the reader to feel a sense of belonging to the world of Harry Potter. The use of non-literal language and the vague description help to make her characters more appropriate and human. Even though according to the novel, Hogwarts is surrounded by fictional and magical characters but the way it’s written it invites the reader to submerge themselves into the setting and story of the novel. It makes the readers feel as if they are en route to the Hogsmeade by stooping through the tunnel. Rowling has used her most possible and effective stylistic way to choose the names of the characters, monsters, places, and people. She knows how powerful the effect of a name could be therefore she chooses the labels or tags that suggest or describes the aspect of the personality of characters. The names Rowling mostly likes to choose are those which rhyme and help to enhance the tone of fear, anger, and anticipation especially when the paragraphs are read out aloud. The words that Rowling uses for the spells are mostly humorous and provides self-explanation. For example, the spell “Alohomora” is used to open the window where black resides. The spell can be translated with the Hawaiian word “Aloha” which then means goodbye or hello. Thus, this sums up the departure or the rescue of black.

Harry Potter goes through an old and traditional quest cycle in the novel Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban. His story took place in the non-magical world but he flees from that place because of the physical abuse and Misunderstanding. Harry Potter was then shifted to the fantastical setting starting from the dragon alley the hog wards and finally Hogsmeade. Where he served as a trainer and learner after asking and seeking forgiveness for his previous actions. He mastered crafts and developed talent in order to make up for his previously done mistakes. Harry resolved his conflict with despair and with his external enemies’ line Peter Pettigrew and Voldemort’s collaborator. On his way back from the adventure, as respected her with self-confidence to oppose and resist further abuse Harry forgave and made an attempt to free Sirius black and also tried to rescue him from further harm.

The reason no previous characterization is not valid is due to the reason that every character has its definition. The scrubber who Ron wanted to dose with a tonic stimulant was no longer a day. The long hair and his lean figure didn’t make him look like an escaped After Harry learned about what black went through to save Harry Potter from the worm tail. However, the clothing is lupin and the exhausted dementor was quite understandable. In each and every chapter of Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban the suspense is usually intensified by a cliffhanger. Harry Potter is at the risk for an uncountable number of times before the plot resolution. The narrative tension is increased once the reader associate and attach themselves physically and emotionally with the characters and the surroundings. Most of the time Rowling leaves the clues and due to the courtesy of the time turner, the repetition of the events clarifies the occurrence of the event that has previously taken place. Through the help of this phenomenon, readers can know about what incidents happened, and then they can compare them with the incident they thought would happen. The shrieking shack confrontation explains and reveals why the way each person behaves or acts, their point of view, and also the grudge they usually hold. The contradicting, evil, good or horrifying depiction of the places and people or characters mostly creates a clueless tone which leads people to doubt their perceptions about people and characters. Most of Rowling’s characters in the novels are outsiders and have their very own self-definition. These individuals mostly depend or rely upon themselves to express themselves. Such personal memories in the Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban states and symbolizes the truth. Through the written picture it’s stated that it’s impossible to separate both evil and good and it’s mainly indicated by the duality of nature in individuals. Some detailing pattern includes sensory information that guides the reader for the emotional clues. Colors are mostly used interchangeably. Such as black can be used to symbolized malice as well as friendship. Sirius Black is considered to be kind whereas black dementors aren’t responsive towards logic. The use of white snow could be for comforting or evil. Intensifying scenes are usually demonstrated by the stormy weather. The taste of butterbeer indicates pleasure and calmness. Smells of perfumes usually from the divination classrooms can be very disturbing. The surrounding of Hogwarts can have fog which can be used to hide both evil or good. To add the mystery in the tone of the novel the darkness can be present inside or outside the castle. The nightmares and sleepless nights that Harry has can also contribute to a bit of an uneasiness. ?

The novel of Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban has the elements of a fairy tale, religious image, and the reflection of methodology in its writing style which causes the scholars to interpret and caution the novel for a fairy tale. For instance, Joseph who is a mythologist could picture the tunnel as the world where black tried to guide Harry. Mythologists could also suggest that voices can be mean to Harry Potter therefore Harry Potter should follow his own fascinations. Freudian ideas can be used by the psychologist to completely understand the adventures of Harry Potter. They can also suggest that the picture of the tunnel indicated the stress he has about his sexuality, desires, and maturation. Similarly, through the use of Jungian imagery they can suggest that the decaying atmosphere of the shrieking shack represented the fear, insecurities, and introverted nature of Harry Potter. The reaction of Harry Potter to the dementor might indicate the inner sorrow and similarly, the conflict he has with his psyche might indicate the issues about his parent’s death that were left unresolved. The different and diverse writing techniques and interpretations usually indicate That the primary and basic foundation of magic is the imagination.

Rowling’s way of literal writing is so intriguing that it becomes difficult for the reader to leave the story halfway through. The words she chooses for writing the story are very delicate and explains the literal context. In Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban, the writer has written about the events as they happen but also about the previously occurred events to expose the story in a very limited pattern. The writer didn’t reveal all thoughts or feelings of Harry Potter. The story somehow also relies on the reader. Every reader perceives the story according to its own perception. Rowling has not written about all the places in Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban some places are usually revealed and described through the eyes of Harry Potter to the viewers. Rowling doesn’t describe the story completely; she describes the important parts and leaves the rest to the readers. She describes every character in a very interesting way. She describes every character in a way as if she knows them personally helping readers to connect with them. While writing a story or novel she Always touches the areas of love, thrill, friendship, anger, evil, and fiction.
